Little Nightmares Review

Horror games are something I love just as much as movies, and Little Nightmares is something of a departure fro m the usual in your face scares in that at first glance it looks like some kind of kids platform game. Aw, look at the cute little kid in a yellow raincoat running through the…oh hang on a minute, that’s a meat grinder, and why are those shoes just lying on the ground, who do they belong to? What are the things in the little paper hats and why is there a creepy man with very long arms stalking me?...

Rayman Legends

Rayman Legends review

Rayman’s enjoyed a bit of a hiatus over the last couple of years with previous Rayman games. The character never really shined in 3D and was in danger of being replaced by his spin-off Rabbids until Rayman Origins came along with great platforming action and even better art direction. Rayman Legends delivers more along the same theme with tonnes of new ideas which are definitely worth the price of admission. Once again, the story’s a bit weak but in essence you have to move through all the stages rescuing Teensies, collecting Lums and freeing some Viking sisters that are all...

Alice Madness Returns

Alice Madness Returns review

And so eleven years after the original American McGee’s Alice, along comes this sequel or remake as you will called Alice: Madness Returns. This time, a great darkness has taken over Wonderland in the form of a menacing steam train and Alice goes on a journey inside her head to save it. I’m sure there’s some deeper metaphor in there somewhere but I just can’t put my finger on it right now. What Alice does deliver is a tight 3D platformer which actually does away with most of the frustrations associated with the genre. There’s also a heady mix of...

Swarm

Swarm announced for the PS3 and Xbox 360

Recently we reviewed Blacklight Tango Down which we found to be decent first person shooter that was heavily inspired by Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Developers UTV Ignition next project is a fun looking strategy game called Swarm. Swarm for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 looks a lot like Pikmin; the Nintendo created real time strategy game which appeared on GameCube and Wii. The game is filled with cute looking characters called Swarmites. These blue gooey looking creatures look like they were created in Spore; they’re so cute you’ll want to protect them as much as you can from...

Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier

Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier review

In my head, Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank are pretty interchangeable. They both feature a main character with big ears with a funny sidekick that rides around on his back. This new game on the PSP is made by High Impact Games who funnily enough made Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters so it does feel similar in many ways although, for me, doesn’t quite match the quality of the Lombax’s adventure. This time, Jak’s lost his dark powers (which makes for a more light-hearted feel to the game), and Jak and Keira are looking for more Eco as...

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts screenshot

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts

Rare, probably the world’s second most secretive games developer (Nintendo being the first) have finally released details, screenshots and even a trailer for their long awaited threequel to the hit N64 title; Banjo-Kazooie. The bear and bird combo are returning for another crazy looking platform romp but this time they are bringing a whole host of crazy vehicles along for the ride. If that isn’t getting you excited yet then hold your horses, you can even create your own custom vehicles in a lego style workshop and use them in game for the single player missions and online multiplayer battles....
