Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games review

I know the lengthy-named Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games has been out for months now but we’re finally at the real-life London Olympics so I thought I’d take a look at the grand event from the point of view of an Italian Plumber and a bright blue Hedgehog. This is actually the third Olympic game featuring these two – the first one came out in 2007 and then there was a Winter Olympics game. Now we’re back with the summer games and this brings a mixed bag of gameplay that’s also just a varied as to...

Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games review

Sega were generous enough to send me a copy of their latest Mario and Sonic game and who am I to say no? The formula so far has been that the Wii version contains a collection of Olympic themes Wii Sports style mini games and focuses heavily on local multiplayer. The handheld game instead contains a single player adventure story mode as well as collection of mini games that can also be played multiplayer if you have a DS/3DS owning friend. With the upcoming Olympic Games in London this year it makes total sense that Mario and Sonic would be...

Vancouver 2010 review

You may have already read our review of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and noticed that I found it much more enjoyable than I expected. Let’s see if Sega’s more serious simulation of the Winter Olympic Games will win me over in the same way as Mario and Sonic did. I don’t want to start on a downer but I’ve never been a fan of the Olympic Games; not the Summer or Winter variety. I have a feeling that just as with most sports; it’s probably more fun to actually take part in the Winter Olympics than...

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for the DS review

I know it’s still 2009 and the Olympics are ages away yet but that isn’t going to stop Sega from sending out their new Mario and Sonic at the Olympics game and it certainly isn’t going to stop me from reviewing it. Now if you’ve already seen our video review of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games then you’ll know it scored fairly well. Can Sega take that same magic juice and bless the Nintendo DS version with a similar level of goodness? Let’s find out in that aforementioned Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Game review...

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games review

Even though Mario and Sonic have been the best of buddies for over a year now it still doesn’t sit right with me somehow. It’s not as if Mario and Sonic were ever deadly enemies but being opposing mascots was enough to divide opinion between Nintendo and Sega fans; personally I’ve always preferred Mario to Sonic. I still feel uncomfortable when meeting someone who preferred or still prefers Sonic games. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games could be considered a sequel to last year’s title but I’d describe it as more of a complimentary game. Because it doesn’t...

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games review

Mario and Sonic’s Olympic Games game if you know what I mean sold like the proverbial hot cakes. Not only did it tap into the spirit of the Olympics but it also brought together two gaming greats as they competed along with their friends and enemies over track and field events – see what we thought of that back in our Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games review. Now they’re back competing over snow and ice but does the game get a chilly reception? Well, the good news is that this game improves on the last one. You’ll notice...
