It’s been a few months coming but Deep Silver have finally let slip more details about their upcoming first person zombie thriller; Dead Island. Now as much as I love Valve’s Left 4 Dead series, I can’t help but feel that it’s feeling a bit stale. The gameplay is a little too rigid and every new set of DLC maps feels the same as the last.
So you can imagine we were quite pleased to hear that Dead Island takes L4D’s 4 player co-op and gives it a fresh new feel. Set on a fictional tropical island called Banoi; you and three friends can experience some awesome looking first person shooting and melee combat in a gorgeous open world environment. Besides a decidedly non-gritty setting (unlike L4D), Dead Island does have more to offer. So far we’ve heard that the game features tons of weapons and customizations, not to mention RPG style character progression.
We’re very excited that it’s not long until the Dead Island release date of September 6th 2011 in the US and September 9th 2011 elsewhere. Check out these brand new Dead Island screenshots direct from E3.
